KHON-TEMPORARY

2D Animation computer/ Performing art

4.14 min/ color/ sound/ digital

A character who made a mistake and was expelled across the borderline of god and abandoned in the place of humans, to find and survive for new experiences. The whole video was narrated like KHON performing which portrayed the main story along with dancing.

A project funded by Office of Contemporary Art and Culture of Thailand was adapted from the word, "Contemporary" combined with "KHON", a traditional Thai Performance art, to be the experimental animation based on its concept, performance and movement. I noticed the movement of KHON and digitally blended it with color and texture to represent along with a rearranged story from the original epic.

Khon, movement and performing were all portrayed by the Rotoscope animation technique to separate the body of performers and re-embody into the new shapes.

TEMPERATURE

Experimental film/ Documentary/ 2D Animation computer/ found footage

4.48 min/ color/ sound/ digital

A collage video of animation, graphic, footage and documentary reflected the climate change and environmental issues related to every life activities in terms of carbon footprint nowadays. The project was funded and awarded by CCCL film festival, Thailand.

The idea started with color temperature in photographic adjustment that could control the perception and emotion of the audience to feel it. So, I designed the warm/cold color temperature to visualize the climate change via daily life activity in a big city such as Bangkok, it seems to be normal life, in fact, everything we did impact and destruct the environment gradually and unconsciously.

INTERFERENCE

Experimental film/ soundscape

7.51min/ color/ sound/ digital

Interference was an experimental film about music and social class. When the conductor comes to various areas that run on different activities, nobody knows about the surrounding sound except him. Suddenly, an unexpected situation occurs.

4’33 by John Cage inspired me to experiment with a soundscape from places to compose as the rhythm sections. Then the concept was developed by defining the imaginary auditory differently. Following the specific situation and activity, all that made different sounds and noises also portrayed the life of each social class. Like the genre of music, life could be shaped by surrounding and could not be forced to be another, not even the authorities always tried to do.

The soundscape was composed on the track by tempo beat along with daily life activities depending on their places and duties. The film was mostly taken with wide-angle shots to refer the overall surroundings and close-up shots to focus on separated sound resources.

GROWTH OF GREEN

2D Animation computer/ Textile art

1.02min / color/ sound/ digital

A project from the Empty room art residency collaborated with Rawan Abbas and was mentored by Joao Roxo, which was the textile combined with animation.

The concept refers to if true nature doesn’t mean only sky, sea, or tree, but things that infiltrate us spiritually, physically, and abstractly all the time then are we not constantly interacting with nature no matter where we might be?

Our surroundings are constantly changing. Structures are being raised and demolished, the earth gets hotter and hotter, new roads are made and bridges are built, and genetic modification of living things. There doesn’t seem to be clear distinction between where man’s intervention begins or ends.

RESTRICTION

Experimental film

3.35min / color/ sound/ digital

A working-class woman was full of curiosity trying to find something on the other side of the solid wall. She imagined everything she wanted but it was just imagination in her limited area, the same image, same feeling were stuck in her mind.

A video was made in COVID-19 crisis, people has to stay home for all day and night long. I presume that this was similar to censorship of humankind that we have no freedom. Since the pandemic situation, people have been living uncomfortably behind the wall during the lockdown. The wall, which has a different meaning. the wall that restricted and imprisoned people in different worlds. The wall that reflected the curiosity, a basic human being. It was just a solid wall.

As the concept, the process need to create the psychedelic images to make more hallucination in terrible situation. Overlaying images made the narrative pressure and tense to live behind the wall.
